EXERCISES

Spiders are not insects, as many people think, nor even nearly related to them. One can tell the difference almost at a glance for a spider always has eight legs and an insect never more than six.
How many spiders are engaged in this work on or behalf? An authority on spiders made a census of the spiders in a grass field in the south of England, and the estimate that there were more than 2,250,000 in one acre, that is something like 6,000,000 spiders of different kinds on football pitch. Spiders are busy for at least half the year in killing insect. It is impossible to make more than the wildest guess at how many they kill, but they are hungry creatures, not content only three meals a day. It has been estimated that the weight of all the insects destroyed by spiders in Britain in one year would be greater than the total weight of all the human being in the country.

THE MANGO TREE

A mango tree is big, beautiful, and useful. Its height is 4 - 8 meters, its trunk is very fat and strong, and its roots are deep. The leaves are small and light green, and the tiny flowers are white and yellow.
Mango trees grow in the hot, humid areas of the tropics. For example, they grow near the equator in countries like Columbia, Venezuela, and Brazil. Usually their threes grow wild, which means they are uncultivated.
Moreover, there are two kinds of mango trees. One is mango-mangga, that is, the mango female. The mango-mangga produces fruit twice a year. The mango fruits are delicious, they also have high protein and many vitamins. The other kind of mango tree is the mango-male, it is smaller than the mango-female, and it doesn't produce mango fruit. However, it has flowers with male that fertilize the mango-mangga. Therefore, mango trees are plentiful and beutiful throughout the tropics, and their fruit is eaten by millions of people.
